Why I Think the BT380 is the Perfect Personal Defensive Weapon.

To me, the BT380 is the perfect personal defense weapon. I'll elaborate.

I've owned and shot a number of defensive pistols in my lifetime. Some were good and some were

bad - real bad. I had owned, tested and resold a number of Bersa 383s. At my FFL shop, buyers

were able to test fire guns I was selling. The 383 customers were extremely pleased with the weapon.

Fast forward to today's shooters. Folks today want light weight, high cap weapons. I don't know if

it's attributed to their own individual fears, but based on my research, personal defense situations

only involve 1 to 3 rounds fired. I can't think of any situation where I would need 12 to 17 rounds,

unless I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at 6 feet. or taking out Russians in Ukraine.

With a barrel length of 3.5 inches, the BT380 maximizes the power of the 380. I tested many

different rounds and found the 85 grain Winchester Silver Tip works best for me. In actual varmint

shootings, it penetrated at least 11 inches and perfect mushrooms even with a 2 inch AMT Back

Up.

As far as ergonomics go, the grip frame fits me well. When drawing from the holster, the gun is

perfectly gripped and ready for precision fireing. I always carry in DA mode knowing I can respond

without worry of flicking a safety . The weight is ideal allowing comfortable carry and helping tone

recoil for more precise follow up shots.

That's it in a nut shell. Carry what you want, but you will never be under gunned with a BT380

It's a great firearm. I love it. Have never had a misfire on the range. I own two, one with a laser and one without.

I find myself carrying my BT .380 more and more. It's comfortable in my hand, most all of the controls are where they need to be (that magazine release though:rolleyes:) and the sights are good for my older eyes. I don't at all feel handicapped by the DA/SA operation, the magazine capacity or the caliber; I can put the rounds quickly and accurately where I need them to be, and I'm not chasing bad guys anymore so I don't need a huge ammo capacity.
I have almost only ever carried a TH380 or BT380 Plus during my working, urban environment day, for the last 23 or so years. Everything said above goes for me as well.

I will say:
(that magazine release though:rolleyes:)
I don't remember, and don't have the BT380 at hand, but for the Plus model I reversed the mag release (it's now actuated from the ejection port side) - IT IS WAY TOO EASY to slide my middle finger back and depress the button for a magazine change! That was a game changer for me at the range. While I don't ever believe I'll need that for SD, at the range when I do five round drills with four magazines, it's sweet!

Same here. I first got the BT380 and eventually put a laser on that one. I took it to the range once and the laser's battery had weakened, so it was back to using the sights. I told my wife that I actually liked shooting without the sights. She preferred the laser. Which gave me the opportunity to get myself another Bersa. So I found a DLX. I like it even more.
Everything the original poster mentioned led me to the BT380. Size, weight, capacity, accuracy and concealability. I've noticed the DLX has a heavier recoil spring. So we have his and hers Thunders.
