Hmm, good question. If you have an older model that doen't have a "rail", I think that your only option is a trigger guard mounted laser. Posibly one of the Rear Sight models would work even if you gun's rear sight dovetail needs to be modified.
That is very high however the laser is now on sale for $235.00 with free shipping. I will continue to use 3 dot sights and if it is dark I do carry a flash light.
As for my Bersa 380 CC. I had to have my dealer return it to the factory. Would not fire more than two before jamming. The on location gunsmith tried it and said it was really tight and hard to cycle. His thought...bad machining.
If the 40 has a rail Crimsom Trace makes a rail mounted one. You will have to change your holster for it to fit. I put one on my Firestorm mini 9 which may be the same size. Got it for $100.00
