9UC encouraged me via PM to post an introduction, so here it is:

First of all, I live in Western North Carolina and have been shooting and hunting for over 50 years - although I don't hunt anymore.

I carry either a Ruger LCP in an Uncle George wallet holster (eight rear pants pocket) or a Ruger LC9S is either a Winthrop leather pancake belt holster or a Foxx tuckable IWB holster - which gun and how is dependent upon weather and what I need to wear. I also have a N82 Tactical holster for the LC9S - it is the most comfortable IWB holster that I have ever owned. I don't use it a lot for no good explainable reason.

A few months ago I purchased a CZ-83 in 380ACP as a fairly small carry with higher capacity (13+1). I really liked its size and it was comfortable to carry in a leather pancake holster. Unfortunately, the CZ-83 had an occasional feed reliability issue and, for that reason, I didn't want to carry it and sold it. I really liked the size and some research showed me that the Bersa Ultra Compact 9 dimensions were very close the CZ-83 a little heavier but very close. Additional research convinced me that the Bersa Ultra Compact 9 was a solid, dependable and accurate gun - so I purchased one. It arrived yesterday and I haven't even taken it to the range yet - Monday!

Now I am prowling for holsters. As you know, they are harder to find for the Bersa Ultra Compact 9. I have purchased the Vega pancake from Eagle Imports largely because of the 20% discount card that was in the box. It isn't exactly what I want but I'll give it a whirl. I prefer an open top leather pancake holster (like my LC9S holster), meaning that I don't like its retention strap. My CZ-83's pancake holster had the retention strap and, while I didn't like the strap, I didn't hate it. The MASTER'S brand pancake leather holster is closer to what I want but it lacks the leather riser between the slide and my body. I like the Winthrop holster because it has all of my desired features BUT they don't make one for the Bersa UC 9.

I'm sitting on the fence about a IWB for now. Maybe an Aliengear 2.0 or a StealthGear Onyx - or, who knows, maybe another Foxx IWB - I've enjoyed the one that I have. The Aliengear 2.0 and StealthGear Onyx are geared more to people living in hot climates where sweat is an issue and I live in the mostly cool mountains of North Carolina. Their softness, however, does make them sound comfortable.

I purchase very little ammo, preferring to use my own reloads. I shoot about 200-to-300 rounds a week - mostly 9mm Luger.

Now that you've posted, I guess that I can do the official welcome the the Bersa Pistol Forum from the great state of Texas. We're just north of the Houston city limits. Started with the BT380, but added the 9UC about 4 years ago. Have since added a second 9uc when a friend decided he had to have a far more expensive 9. It had only been fired 3-4 times and he had a total of 5 mags to go with it. I also carry OWB and you have pretty well described the holster I use for both the BT380 and my edc 9uc. They are a UBG Bonneville heavy duty leather pancake open top & bottom holsters with the body shield. I just ordered an 18 oz, steel core Bigfoot gun belt and am looking forward to the additional support.

The UBG looks perfect. If the already ordered Vega H141 doesn't work out I'll switch to a UBG. Thanks for posting the photos - they help. I had actually looked at the UBG site but they don't do a very good job of selling their product - they are photo poor and the description came across to me as a multi-gun holster, which scared me away. Admittedly I left the site too quickly and I should have spoken with them to be sure. Oh well, the Vega H141 seems well liked according to posts on another forum.

9uc - When I was deciding whether or not to buy a UBG holster for my UC9 I was concerned by how much of the muzzle might extend beyond the holster's bottom. My email to UBG didn't encourage me as he replied that it definitely would extend. I took your posted image and manipulated it in GIMP to approximate what the pistol would look like in the UBG holster. It did extend and while not objectionably so, UBG's reply indicated that I should expect more muzzle extension that shown in my Gimp'ed image. Consequentially, I went with the Winthrop instead. Anyway, I though that you might get a kick out of this virtual image of your pistol in its holster..

That's way above my abilities with prpblems with my photp file, but finally got a copy of that saved to my files. I did a double check on my UBG with my after looking at the picture you did, and just for note, the barrel protrudes so little, it's hard to tell it does. I'm back to holster hunting and will be looking for an excellent quality heavy duty swivel holster that I can use for cross draw. Checked your holster maker's site, but he dosen't make swivels.

Re UBG protruding - I understand but UBG refused to guarantee that he would deliver a holster without what, to me, was significant protrusion.

You need to talk to Winthrop - the website doesn't have all products.

I'll give them a call an see if they have a swivel design on the back burner. I'm actually wanting two holsters, one for the T380 and one for the 9UC. I don't blame you for not ordering from the UBG and at the price, I would think they could have been a little more accommodating and insured that the leather full extended beyond their blue gun mold.

Converted photo to Animated GIF

I started to delete the photos and decided, what the heck, I'll make an Animated GIF from them. See attached - it should look like a little video. You may have to download it to see in motion - it depends upon what you view it with, BUT clicking on the photo may work for you.
