Last night around 10:00 PM I was watching tv in the bed room, wife was in living room watching a different program....I heard a noise on the front porch at about the same time I heard the two dogs go off, the wife opened the front door and one of the dogs ran out and attacked the un-wanted guest at the same time I got on my shoes, grabbed the .380 keeping my finger out of the trigger and headed for the front door while the wife was yelling at me to grab the gun........ I went out the door saw the intruder hanging on the outside of the railing. I thumb cocked the gun and started to aim when it jumped off the railing onto the landing I shot once and missed, shot again as it was running down the driveway, missed again.....dam......no raccoon hat for me tonight.....

What did I learn from this.
1. get better sights for the Bersa 380 I never could find the front sight in the dark
2, Learn another way to aim, when its dark out its impossible to see the sights

QUESTION........ What other things do I need to do ?????? anyone have any suggestions.
Never found where the bullets hit, hope there's not a lawyer attached to them.......

Boy I am glad you were able to fight off that dangerous raccoon, it could have been messy...
As per suggestions just one, get your wife a gun after she learns how to use one. That way instead of the wife yelling at you to grab the gun she can yell " I'll get my gun you get yours" and we will teach this raccoon not to come to our house.

she has a browning 9mm but never uses it we both have carry permits she never carry's I always do.......have been thinking of a lazor maybe a grip type or ??????????
Did she just open the door enough to let the dog out without checking to see what the noise was? Or did she see it was only a raccoon before she opened the door to a random noise? Suggestions: practice at a range before cracking off shots out front of your house and not knowing where they will or did end up. Carelessness is not a good thing when using a firearm.
A 9mm that's cool, I am still hoping to get a BP9cc to go with my BT 22, 32, 380 and 380cc.

So you are thinking about getting a Laser for your 380, Bersa sells a Laser for the 380 however at $235 it almost cost the same as a new BT380. Maybe there are other Lasers that cost less...... A laser sure will help with your fight against dangerous raccoon's.....

as far as random shot we live on twenty acres with no one close by, shots were directed downward toward driveway/ stairs so no fear of hitting people or cars just dirt.....wife was trying to peek out the door when the dog forced her way out wife WILL NOT do that again she learned a lesson all is good have not seen **** in several days might have got him then again maybe not
First off be careful to not hit anything behind him like a neighbor or something!

Practice drawing and shooting some more so your brain will know more or less where to aim by muscle memory, also, try a laser? or maybe a flashlight?

Hope I helped, glad ya safe! Nice job man!!

well I broke down and bought the crimson trace grips and will be buying a flashlight when SS check gets here, like the laser where you point it is where the bullet goes. The **** has never come back so there is a good chance that I hit him or her. I have been practicing finding front sight and red dot at the same time need to learn to be a bit more steady when pulling trigger its real easy to miss.

"Where the dot is, the hole goes". I've been saying that about my nightstand gun for a couple of years.
