A while back I read an article about the lifespan of a Bersa Thunder 380, and my BT380 has over 11,000 rounds fired however I no longer shoot 3 or 4 boxes of 380 ammo per month since the price of ammo hit the roof. I have been using my BT22LR due to the price of ammo.
Here is the article:
How long will a BERSA Thunder 380 last?
There is ongoing discussion on several internet forum on this very question. I myself have posted about a range rental Thunder 380 with perhaps 4,000 to 5,000 rounds through it, along with photographs of the wear involved. Stephen A. Camp at one point posted that his Thunder 380 had under 3,000 rounds through it "without any failures". Several other owners have experienced no failures beyond the 1,500 round mark. Based on observable wear, most private 'guesstimates' on the Thunder 380's ultimate lifespan fall between 5,000 and 12,000 rounds. Again, these are only best-guesses based on observations of wear, and it's quite possible the Thunder 380 can last very, very much longer.
I wonder if it is getting time to have it checked out by a Gunsmith or get a new one. I will never be without a BT380 since this one has been really great to me even after I get my BP9cc..
Has anyone had any experience with any type of weapons as for how long they will fire safely before needing major repairs or replacement???
Tony Thanks
